diakritinis ženklas statusas T sritis informatika apibrėžtis Ženklelis virš raidės, po raide, greta jos arba ant jos, tą raidę paverčiantis kita raide. Pavyzdžiui, diakritinis ↑paukščiukas, uždėtas virš S raidės paverčia ją Š raide. Kai kurie diakritiniai ženklai 8 bitų koduotėse turi kodus ir tada gali būti vartojami (spausdinami, rodomi ekrane) atskirai, kaip savarankiški ženklai. Tada jie turi šiame žodyne apibrėžto ↑ženklo statusą. Kiekvienas savarankiškas diakritinis ženklas unikode turi porininką – ↑kombinacinį diakritinį ženklą. Šis turi nulinį plotį ir kai vaizduojamas (spausdinamas, rodomas ekrane), „užlipa“ ant prieš jį stovinčios raidės ir taip gaunama raidė su diakritiniu ženklu. Trys diakritiniai ženklai lietuvių kalboje vartojami kaip kirčio ženklai.
